St John the Evangelist, Carlinghow

Welcome to the United Benefice of Christ Church Stancliffe and St John's the Evangelist in Carlinghow. We are a welcoming, friendly, and social community of Christians located in Batley, West Yorkshire, within the Diocese of Leeds. We are affiliated with the Society and are under the episcopal oversight of the Bishop of Beverley. A priest from the Society of the Holy Cross also serves our parish. We proudly uphold the Catholic tradition of the Church of England and celebrate Mass daily within the Benefice. Our worship is characterized by high church practices, including rich ceremonial elements, beautiful vestments, incense, bells, traditional hymns, and plainchant. We also hold a deep devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and all the Saints. Everyone is welcome to attend our services and events. For more information about our services, baptisms, weddings, funerals, or other life events, please contact our Parish Priest, Fr. Jay Lawrence Hewitt SSC.
