DSC was set up in March 2020 initially to help those isolated with shopping and collecting prescriptions. As time has moved on, we now find ourselves supporting those who are facing financial hardship through delivering free meals and food, and the setting up if a food bank. We also provide sanitary products and goody-bags for children. A card signposting to mental health and wellbeing services has recently been produced and is tucked in every foodstuffs delivery.

The Group is run entirely by volunteers of different faiths and none, and is grateful to members of the  Darul Ilm mosque in Brewery Lane, Thornhill Lees for the use of their portacabin as the food bank. One of our objectives is to demonstrate community cohesion by working together. Our funding is from Thornhill Parish Funds and Kirklees Council-managed grants. and Thornhill itself. 

DSC covers Thornhill Lees and Savile Town: we work closely with a sister organisation providing similar services in Ravensthorpe - the 20:20 Foundation.
