Planning is underway and preparations being made for the celebration of 160th. There will be exhibitions and displays and we are hoping to retrieve registers from the archive. The Church will be open from 10.30 a.m. on Saturday 7th September, with volunteers on hand to showcase the building as well as the displays. Refreshments will also be available. On Sunday 8th the Church opens with our usual parish mass with a guest preacher, Fr John Gribben from the Community of the Resurrection, Mirfield. Thereafter everyone is welcome to a "fuddle" lunch before a Community Songs of Praise at 2 p.m. "The idea is to welcome community groups and representatives in a simple celebration of everything that is good about Ravensthorpe", says Fr George, parish priest. Further details are available from him on 07388507282 or email: hospitalgeorge@gmail.com
Mark joins the ministry team at St Saviour's and we hope he and his wife, Tseleng, will be happy with us. Mark will be continuing his work as the librarian at Thornhill College and it will be interesting to see how his vocation to the ordained ministry will develop in a secular environment. Our picture shows Fr Mark with the Bishop Smitha, Fr George and Revd Sarah Gill - all Huddersfield Area people.
