The service begins outside the main entrance of the church where we Light the Paschal Candle, from which we light our own candles. It is then borne in procession and the Exultet is sung. The Service of Light includes four readings and responsorial Psalms, and this leads into the First Mass of Easter.

During Lent the Stations of the Cross are followed around the church (replacing the Penitential material and Ministry of the Word). The service resumes in the Lady Chapel at the Peace.

A Confirmation and joint Festival Mass for members, families and friends of the Catholic Societies of the Church of England (SSC, GSS, CBS, Society of Mary, etc.) will be held at St Ambrose Church on Tuesday, 21st April, 2026, at 7:00pm. The Principal Celebrant will be The Right Revd Luke Irvine-Capel, SSC, Bishop of Richborough. The service will be followed by refreshments in the Church.
