SPACE (Suckley Parish Academy and Community Enterprises) - bringing new life to Suckley Church

SPACE took off in 2010 when the Vicar invited the Diocesan Buildings Adviser to visit Suckley Church and advise how we could make our church sustainable. The Archdeacon too was very encouraging to the PCC in their aim of extending the use of the church to the wider community, in order to strengthen the community and to sustain the church. Thus began the "Vision for the future of Suckley Church". SPACE became a registered charity in 2016, being "a church, school and community initiative to use the huge church building as a multi-purpose hub for this scattered rural village. The school too needs a large space, effective heating, disabled access, kitchen and toilet, separate meeting room for Citizens Advice and WiFi hub all offer community opportunities to help address rural isolation from Mums with tiny tots to the elderly".

We celebrated our new floor by holding a village Ceilidh in the Space. The underfloor heating has transformed our year-round 'warm welcome' , and the multitude of future-proofing wires under the floor are usefully connecting up our hearing loop and AV system.
