Mary Goddard and Rebecca Prick from Belstead were both accused and tried as part of the Suffolk Witch Trials which were undertaken by Matthew Hopkins the self proclaimed witchfinder general who with his partner John Stearne travelled through Suffolk between 1645 and 1647. They accused and condemned more witches than all previous English witch hunters combined.
