But he did write a letter which survives. It was a letter to a disunited and argumentative church - the Corinthians - reminding them of the same qualities of love about which St Paul had written to them previously, as a result of them being... you guessed it, disunited and argumentative.Love, writes Clement, bears all things. Love admits of no schisms: love gives rise to no subversion: love does all things in harmony. Challenging words! And ones they'd heard before.Sometimes we need to hear things a lot of times. But God never gives up; because God is love; and love perseveres.
