A funeral is used to mark the end of a person’s life here on earth. Family and friends come together to express grief, give thanks for the life lived and commend the person into God’s keeping. These can be a small, intimate ceremony or a large occasion in the church or a crematorium.Everyone is entitled to a funeral in their local parish church by their Vicar regardless of whether they attended church or not. Unfortunately, our churchyard has been declared closed by the local authorities, but can provide alternative places of burial and your funeral director will advise you. Please have a look at the Church of England website https://www.churchofengland.org/life-events/funeralsOnce you have contacted your Funeral Director, they will contact the Vicar on your behalf, to arrange the funeral – including the date, time and venue. The Vicar will then contact you to arrange a home visit to discuss the funeral, your needs and to offer prayer and support. If you are going through a bereavement, please know that we are here to support you in any way that we can.
