2026 Blythswood Shoebox appeal
We are doing our annual Shoebox Appeal, which is again being organised by Blythswood (visit https://blythswood.org/shoeboxappeal/ for more information of the appeal and see a short video)
There are leaflets in St Ed’s so you can see what items are needed in the boxes – or see the checklist attached to this newsitem.
Please return all completed Shoeboxes by Sunday 1st November. There will be “Shoebox Services” at 9:30am or 11:15 am on that day.
Please use your own shoebox(es) if you are happy to wrap them in Christmas paper. Alternatively, at the back of St Ed’s we have plenty of empty shoeboxes, which have been wrapped by Sue Beverley in Christmas paper (special thanks to Sue!).
This year we do feel that some of you may find it difficult to fill a box yourselves. But don’t worry:-
We have a donation box at the back of St Ed’s where you can leave any of the items from the list which you feel able to donate. Leave the rest to us to sort the items and make up other boxes using them.
Also Taverham Library has kindly offered to be a drop off point for you to take any items for the shoeboxes.
All we would ask is that, if possible, you bring any items you wish to donate into St Ed's or the Library by Tuesday 27th October as we are having a 'workshop' on Wednesday 28th October (2 til 5) to build complete shoeboxes.
Everyone is welcome at the workshop (children to be accompanied by an adult). Drop in for a short while if you are able. Refreshments will be available.
The shoeboxes will then be sent on the next part of their journey a day or two after the “Shoebox Service Sunday” on 1st November. Our prayer for those receiving the shoeboxes is that they know God loves them, just as he loves each of us so deeply.
