The Church of the Ascension
Welcome!
The Church of the Ascension has been at the heart of Woolston for 50 years. We are a church community in East Warrington, and part of the Church of England. We are made up of people of all ages and backgrounds. Everyone is welcome at The Ascension, whether you are new to the area, would like to find out more about the Christian faith, are looking for some hope, or have been coming here for years!
After a long interregnum we recently welcomed our new Vicar: Rev Tabitha Rao.
We hold regular services at 11am on Sundays and 10am on Wednesdays. Our thanks go to the clergy who are stepping in to celebrate these services.
The parish of Birchwood and Woolston is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Liverpool’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.

Most churches are “Excepted Charities” and are therefore not registered with the Charity Commission. You can download a PDF that includes your church name, address and church code. This PDF, which is an extract from the Church of England’s database of churches, can serve as a certificate for churches requiring proof of their charity status when registering for online and card-based giving. Click on the download button below and fill in the short form. You will then be emailed the certificate as a PDF.
