After a busy Christmas and Epiphany we return to our regular programme of services as we approach Ash Wednesday and the penitential season of Lent . During Lent there will be a weekly service of Compline each Wednesday evening. Everyone is most welcome to come along to join us for any of our services. We wish all readers health and happiness for 2026, and look forward to seeing you.
Sunday 1st February at 8.30 a.m. - Holy Communion [Septuagesima; Candlemas]
You are most welcome to this short early service of Holy Communion, led by Revd Dawn. After the service there will be refreshments and time for fellowship.
Sunday 1st February at 6.30 p.m. - Choral Evensong (BCP) [Septuagesima, Candlemas]
Our service of Evensong for Candlemas, led by the choir, is taken from the Book of Common Prayer, with readings from the Authorized Version of the Bible (the King James Version). The congregation sings the hymns, and the choir will sing settings of Psalm 24; the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis by Richard Ayleward (1626-1669); and the Stanford Motet Responses by David Hansell. The choir will also sing the choral anthem "When to the Temple Mary Went" by Johannes Eccard (1553-1611), based on the biblical account of the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple in Luke 2:22–40, which describes how the elderly Simeon, guided by the Holy Spirit, recognizes Jesus as the Messiah and proclaims: "In peace I now depart, my Saviour having seen: the Hope of Israel, the Light of men." After the service a glass of wine and nibbles will be available . All are very welcome.

N.B. The PCC has undertaken all relevant risk assessments in the light of Covid-19 guidance over the past 5 years, and these are reviewed regularly. All restrictions have now been lifted.
In colder weather please dress warmly; the heating is on but the church is a large building.
Please note that at Communion services we have reintroduced Communion in two kinds, i.e. sharing the chalice. If you have any problem with this do mention this to the sidesman or churchwarden before the service. Should you prefer not to receive Communion, do come to the chancel for a blessing, indicating this perhaps by keeping your hands to your sides.
Everyone is most welcome, but if you have any doubts about coming to join us do please check here or contact John Phillips (01845 577034) beforehand for further information; every effort will be made to accommodate you. Access is not ideal, as the path is steep, but a temporary ramp can be provided for wheelchair entrance to the church; do let us know if you need this in place.
THANK YOU - WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU.
