There is always something ..... Having completed the faculty relating to the chancel roof and bells, we were pleased to file away the project, just before Christmas. My relief of having less to stress about didn't last long. We had been having a problem with fungus appearing in the coffee area at the back of the church. It got to the stage that I felt it necessary to pull up the wooden floor to seewhat was going on beneath it. Did I get a shock. We have dry rot, not what i was expecting at all. Knowing how urgent this was, an interim faculty has been submitted. The coffee area floor is up and out of the building, along with the floor immediately by our beautiful organ. The carpet from the aisle has been thrown out just to help the floor breathe. The question is how far has it spread. We await a survey and report from a wood specialist; £2000 plus vat. Hopefully this will tell us where it has spread to and what we need to do to prevent it getting any worse. So that's where we are at the moment. I will keep you posted.
