The UK Government introduced another national lockdown on 6 January 2021. Although this decision did not force churches to close, the PCC of St John the Baptist church agreed to remain open for the time being despite the new concerns. This also means that we are the only church open in the benefice, which places greater emphasis on managing the numbers attending our church. If you wish to attend, please contact Ray, details below, and he will be able to advise.
The identification of the new variant of Covid-19, together with the additional “South Africa” variant means that the transmission of the virus is much more easily transferred between individuals and the need to keep to strict measures is now seen as vital in our attempt to keep our church open for Sunday services.
The PCC also agreed to provide a shorter, non-Eucharistic service each Sunday at 1030, for the time being, in order to reduce the spread of the virus. Greater emphasis will be placed on the basic procedures to be followed when entering our church, so please bear with us and follow the guidance that will be offered when you attend. A more detailed description of those measures is contained in the attachment - "Coronavirus - Church Notice 7 January 2021.docx".The decision to continue worship will be kept under review in the light of further guidance from the House of Bishops Covid Recovery Group.
