Fundraising in our church - update 6 February 2023

Since the Friends of St John the Baptist was set up in 2015, we have raised over £116,000 from grant applications, coffee mornings, events and generous donations towards new facilities and repairs, the latter meeting the needs of those items identified in our 5-yearly Quinqennial Inspection.

A short summary of is listed below:

1. 29 June 2016 - Listed Places of Worship Scheme grant £58900 (after an unsuccessful attempt the year before)

2. 17 June 2021 - Shropshire Historic Churches Trust grant £10000

3. 7 July 2021 – the Lumley Trust grant £5000

4. 7 July 2021 - North Shropshire Community Care Trust - grant £5000

5. 6 August 2021 - Georgian Society grant £2500

6. 1 November 2021 – National Churches Trust grant £10000

7. 1 January 2022 – Councillor Bentley Community Fund grant £250

8. 9 January 2022 – Waters Upton parish Council – gave a Climate Change grant of £175

9. Coffee Mornings from 21 February 2017 - £4174 (up to end of 2022, ongoing)

10. All Churches Trust - £1500

11. Anonymous Grant - £1000

12. Friends Events from 2015 - £10600 (approx)

13. January 2023 - Shropshire Historic Churches trust grant of £7000

Overall the above total amounts to £116001, but this is an approximate figure which has not been audited. We continue to raise money every year. A huge thank you to everyone who has been a part of this success - long may it continue!
