About Us

St Peter's Church sits high on a cliff overlooking Folkestone Harbour and has been a focal point for the local fisherman and seafarers ever since it was built in the Early English style in 1862. The church became so popular that in 1870 it was greatly enlarged by the addition of a north aisle and an eastward extension to its Choir and Sanctuary. While this was going on, a clergy house and school were built on the same site. Today St Peter's School enjoys close ties with its church while the annual ceremony of Blessing of the Fisheries retains the historic link with Folkestone's fishing community.
