About Us
St Laurence in the beautiful downland village of Falmer extends a warm welcome to all.
Our parish encompasses both Sussex and Brighton Universities and we are keen to reach out to the students as well as those in the villages, surrounding farms and our congregation.
Our church community is centred in the sharing of Holy Communion on a Sunday morning, to which all are welcome, including those who are inquisitive about Christian faith, or tentatively thinking about a return. We have a children's area to support parents and carers and there is coffee after the Sunday service when we meet and chat with fellow worshippers.
Falmer has had a church since the 11th century and thousands of people have worshipped on this spot through the years. The present building was built in 1817 and, with various additions, became the church you see today.
There are church events throughout the year, both social and those that help us grow in faith. There is an annual programme of concerts featuring a range of musical styles and our long established Flower Festival.
