The halfway point in Lent, also known as Refreshment Sunday. Our service will give thanks both for mothers and for our 'Mother Church' in this Diocese - Chichester Cathedral, the focus of our unity for all our diverse churches across the Diocese of Chichester.

Holy Week begins with the distribution of palm crosses and a procession from the Village Hall to the church (if it is not raining!) for the weekly Parish Eucharist which will include a dramatised reading of the Passion Gospel.

A celebration of the Institution of Holy Communion at Jesus' Last Supper, with optional involvement in the Foot Washing Jesus carried out that evening.

Stations of the Cross (around the pond, weather permitting) with hot cross buns followed by The Solemn Liturgy in church, with Veneration of the Cross for those who wish.

Parish Eucharist for Easter Day with the blessing of the Easter Garden

The Coppers have been renowned for their harmony singing, unusual in the English Tradition and possibly church-derived; this fact was noted when the Brothers Tom and James (Brasser) Copper were first ‘collected’ by noted classical singer and musicologist Mrs Kate Lee in 1898. The two were made honorary founder members of the Folk Song Society in 1899 (later to become the English Folk Dance and Song Society) – a fact of which they remained blissfully ignorant!
The land and specifically the Sussex Downland was always the backdrop to the family music and a deep love of the surrounding countryside is never far away from many songs in the repertoire – these were songs in celebration of their everyday work and the pride taken in it; they were treasured and handed down purely through the oral tradition.
