About Us

St. Peter's is a beautiful village church with an engaged and flourishing congregation. Nestling beneath the Sussex Downs, Christians have worshipped on this site since Saxon times and today we take seriously our responsibility to cherish and refresh our inheritance. Located adjacent to the former Roman road to London (called Stane Street), a stone church has existed on this site since about 710AD, not long after the arrival of St Wilfrid's mission to the lands of the South Saxons. Much of the fabric of the Chancel dates from this period being constructed from materials recycled from the ruins of the Roman city of Regnum.

Serving the villages of Westhampnett, Westerton and Maudlin, including the March Church of England Primary School, St. Peter's is a growing family of all ages and backgrounds in which everyone is welcome. We are committed to joyful and prayerful worship, embracing our heritage whilst meeting the challenges of our modern age. We have social activities for young and old.

Do come and join us - you will be most welcome.
