Due to the rising cost of living, many local families are struggling to feed their families. To help families in need, we feel it’s right to organise Hope in the summer. Our aim is to provide food for one day of each week of the holidays. The food will be delivered at the start of July and again in August - 7 days supply in total. Hinckley area Food Bank are able to support us with some provision of tinned and dried food, which we may be able to supplement with fresh fruit and veg. We are asking schools and playgroups to nominate families, and want to extend the invitation to make nominations to church members. If you know of a local family who would benefit from this offer of 'Hope', please use the google form. The link is supplied below. Or if you are not able to access the form, please contact Di Harrold on 01455 272928. https://forms.gle/DT99Mir58kW9HTYM7 Nominations must be by June 17th
We were delighted to be able to hold the Churches Together in Sapcote and Sharnford Charity Fun Run again after a gap of three years. This year the run/walk was part of the Sapcote Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebration and consequently the start was moved to the playing fields where the rest of the celebration was being held. Sixty entrants gathered together and the run was again started to the sound of Leicester City's, Paul Hing, playing the Post Horn Galop at 10:00 am. Some of the faster runners were able to get to Sharnford and back in an impressive 20 minutes, being cheered on by our marshals and other people along the way - many others enjoyed the walk. The run made £315 for the three charities: Cancer Research UK, Parkinsons UK and Tear Fund. I'd like to thank all of those people who helped or joined in: a group of willing workers who arrived on Saturday at 8:00 am to set up the start banner, gazebo, etc, all of the marshalls including helpers from St Helens at the Sharnford end, the celebration event organisers, Paul Hing with his post horn, and of course all of the runners and walkers. It was a great start to the Sapcote Queen's Jubilee Celebration and great that our churches had a strong presence in the community event. Dave Harrold
Hope@Easter – Following a busy day packing bags with food on Tuesday April 12th, on Wednesday the Hope team had the great privilege of delivering 26 hampers to Sapcote and Sharnford and also 75 plants to individuals. We had a fantastic team of volunteers to accomplish this task, made up of church members from Sapcote and Sharnford and also school staff. Thank you all for being so willing to help. The hampers were amazing-packed full of food supplied by the Hinckley Area Food Bank who also provided for a fruit and veg box. The churches also donated some craft activities to keep the children happy during the holidays. The hamper recipients were very grateful and several were quite overwhelmed. The need for help remains great-even on our own doorstep and it is a humbling experience to be able to assist in any way. The plants were also extremely warmly received and many interesting chats occurred during the deliveries. Please pray for everyone given a gift this Holy Week and that they will know the love and joy of Jesus this Easter time. Thank you all again and Happy Easter. The Hope@Easter team
