Baptism and Confirmation

Baptism

We try to make the Sacrament of Baptism meaningful and helpful to the family of the candidate and to Christ‘s People gathered for worship. We are happy to baptise the children of all who live in the parish and of committed members who travel into the parish to worship regularly, provided they are willing to take part in the Baptism Preparation Course we have adopted and are willing to take the Baptism promises for their children and mean them.

Confirmation

Older children and adults who have not been Confirmed by the Bishop, and who worship regularly are encouraged to prepare for Confirmation. Classes are held separately for children and adults on a weekly basis during term times.

First Communion

In the Church of England children are now allowed, with the agreement of the Parish Priest and the Parochial Church Council, to be prepared to receive Holy Communion before they are Confirmed. Where Parishes have adopted this practice a Course of Preparation involving both the child/ren and parents is held. Where children have been prepared and have been receiving Holy Communion in another Parish they are permitted to receive Holy Communion in every other parish.
