About Us

Welcome to St Peters Church website

The church is situated on the edge of the village, has weekly services, and is regularly used for baptisms, weddings, funerals and other special services. Kitchen and toilet facilities are in the attached church centre. There is also a meeting room  available for hire by yourself or a group, please contact our booking secretary telephone number 01603 714392.

We have  a group especially for younger people which meets in church on the 3rd Sunday of each month.

The church  building is usually open from 9am to 3pm GMT and 4pm BST.

The congregation consists of a mixed age group of people from a variety of backgrounds.

You would be most welcome to join us on our journey with Jesus.

Strumpshaw Carol Singing raised £221 for Christian Aid. Well done carol singers.

Monday Prayers –Sue Wray writes “Our first meeting of this New Year is on 8th January at 60 Elm Road, starting at 10am and the second is on 22nd January same place and time; all are welcome to come and join in. Any queries ring Sue Wray on 713680”

Tuesday Prayers (10am) is at Christine Blowers’ home in January. All welcome.

Children's Society – Penny Webb writes for Lingwood Church “Many thanks to all box holders who returned their boxes to me promptly for emptying and counting. We raised a magnificent £478.15 for the charity.”

Following on from the theme of the Advent Sunday services, two excellent programmes were featured on the BBC at Christmas. Did you see them? Called Alternativity, they highlighted the current situation for those living near the security barrier in Bethlehem through the production of a nativity play, directed by Danny Boyle with input from Banksy. Well worth a watch on iPlayer. It may make you laugh and weep.

Concert at Candlemas. Make sure you don’t miss this on 3rd February at 7.30pm at Strumpshaw Church. There will be a varied programme of instrumental (flute, guitar trumpet, recorders and keyboard) and vocal music coupled with readings to brighten a dull time of year. Free admission. Retiring collection for Strumpshaw Church Funds.

Hug a Mug – the new coffee shop at Lingwood Village Hall on Mon, Tues and Thurs mornings. Is there anyone else who might be interested in supporting this as a volunteer? We need to get back to the Village Hall. Please let David or Heather know.

Lent Group - Are you interested in finding out more about the Christian Faith? In February and March we will be running a series of sessions in Lingwood Church on Thursday evenings. We will start off in the church centre at 7pm with coffee and cake and then discuss some of the questions that life & faith raise from 7:30pm. We will finish around 9pm. Suitable for both for those who think they know very little and have lots of questions, and for those who think they know a lot, and still have lots of questions!
