Welcome to St Peters Church website
The church is situated on the edge of the village, has weekly services, and is regularly used for baptisms, weddings, funerals and other special services. Kitchen and toilet facilities are in the attached church centre. There is also a meeting room available for hire by yourself or a group, please contact our booking secretary telephone number 01603 714392.
We have a group especially for younger people which meets in church on the 3rd Sunday of each month.
The church building is usually open from 9am to 3pm GMT and 4pm BST.
The congregation consists of a mixed age group of people from a variety of backgrounds.
You would be most welcome to join us on our journey with Jesus.

Tuesday Prayers (10am) in Nov is at Christine Blowers home and Dec at Marie Breame’s home.
Lorna needs baskets for making up her Christmas baskets for the Christmas Fairs. Please get any you can give to her as soon as possible.
Children's Society boxes are due back in now. Could you give them to Marie for Strumpshaw and Penny Webb for Lingwood.
Hug a Mug – a new coffee shop at Lingwood Village Hall on Mon, Tues and Thurs mornings. Church members are encouraged to volunteer to help, with an agreement that a percentage for each drink/cake sold whilst volunteering will go to the church. This is a great opportunity for the churches to engage in the community. If you are at all interested, please let David or Heather know in the first instance, otherwise your volunteering won’t count towards the church total. We’ve had 4 potential offers so far.
Thursday Home Group meets 30th November at Marie’s 7.30pm for Bible study on St. Mark’s Gospel.
For those who have lost children, miscarried or cannot have children, there is an Angel Tree service on Sat 2nd Dec at 11am in Lingwood Church. Posters are available please take these and put them up.
Strumpshaw Christmas Fair 2nd Dec. Marie Breame writes “We will be setting up at 10 o'clock that morning, so help is needed please. We also need lots of large and small cakes, raffle prizes etc please.“
The Ladies & Mens’ Christmas meals for Tues December 12th at the Cantley Cock are now booked. If you would like to go and have not booked let Heather know – we might still be able to squeeze you in.
Contributions to the cost of flowers for decorating Lingwood Church for Christmas would be very gratefully received. See Heather or Marianne.
Strumpshaw Garden Party 2018 – Would you like there to be one in 2018? Sue Goodwin has offered to co-ordinate this together with a small team. That is great news. Sue would like to know whether past stall holders and helpers are willing to continue. If you have previously run a stall, please let Sue know either way on 714451. We thank Elizabeth for all the many years she has organised this event. Date now confirmed as 30th June 2018

Today-Advent Sunday we will be thinking in all the services about preparing for Christmas - here and in Bethlehem, including images of Bethlehem on the screen
David and Heather are once again raising awareness and money for Jeel al Amal School and Home in Bethany and Al Shurooq School for visually impaired children in Bethlehem. They have visited these schools previously to see the really fantastic work they are doing and in January they will be travelling to the Holy Land to see them once again. The trip to Israel and the Palestinian Territories will involve 4 sponsored walks totalling 18 miles. Heather & David would be very grateful for your sponsorship. They have sponsor forms at Sunday Services or if you prefer on line giving www.justgiving.com/fundraising/david-wakefield.

Ian will be leading our practice on Wednesday December 13th at 7pm for the “choir” who will be singing “Hallelujah” at Lingwood carol service. There will also be a run through at 5.30pm before the service on 17th. Please confirm to Heather if you are going to join in

For those of you who said you were able to sing a few carols to Barbara Brinded in her Care Home in Thorpe we are going on Tues 19th Dec. early evening. Check time/transport with David or Heather.
