Facilities and features

Accessibility

The Church has one toilet which is used by all church members. It is suitable for Disabled and the entry is ramped.

There is a car parking area outside the church and in adjacent roads. Please do not park on the grass in winter, and please leave the area closest to the Church Gate for those who struggle to walk or who need to use a wheelchair.

There is a toilet in the Church Room which is used by all church members. It is suitable for Disabled and the entry is ramped.

The entry to the Church and Church Room is ramped and if you wish to use the ramp you need to take the LEFT HAND SIDE pathway around the Church building as you approach. There are steps on the Right Hand approach route into the Church.

There is a hearing loop but you need to speak to a Welcomer if you think that the Loop is not working, since we have no regular users of the Loop and therefore it may have had its volume turned too far down without anyone noticing!

Our Building

The Church Building is listed and is an unusual design. There is a history booklet available at the back of the Church or from churchwardens / Vicar.

Music and Worship

We have an organ but no regular organist; however we have a music box which can fill the church with organ music for a wide variety of hymns and songs. Indeed, it can also produce music which sounds like a brass band, or a piano, or many other instruments. We also have an electric piano. We have music at every 10.30 am Sunday service (except the Cafe Church on the fifth Sunday, which happens four times a year) but we have music only irregularly at the 9 am Sunday service.

Youth Group

The Church has several home groups which have different discipleship courses to meet a variety of needs. Many church members enjoy belonging to these groups. Please speak to the Vicar if you would like to know more about the groups or you might like to visit or join a group.

Help for Visitors

There is a village cafe 9-12 Thursday mornings, which is a church initiative within the community on Thursday mornings at Southmoor Village Hall. Why not visit on Thursday morning and pop in to the KBS Cafe as part of your visit?

Please contact the Churchwardens to visit the Church. Their contact details are posted outside the Church and are also available on our Church website.

Other Features

The Church only uses Fairtrade coffee.

There is a pink box inside the Church. It is placed at the back of the Church to the right as you come in, where any donations of tinned and dried foods may be placed. These are taken to a local Food Bank, presently Abingdon Christchurch, who pass it on for distribution. The box is full approximately every eight weeks from donations from church members.

We also give food openly at the Harvest service and the food goes to a local food bank, with fresh produce going to Kingsmoor Day Centre for cooking the lunches.

The Church has the necessary technology to use Powerpoint during services. Please contact the audio-visual team via the Churchwardens if you have any queries about this or wish to use the technology during your church event.

The Church Room may be hired, please contact the Vicar or Churchwardens for more details or to make a booking.
