Our Building
St Mary's is open every weekday morning at 8.30am for Morning Prayer. The church is open Monday-Saturday between 8.30-4pm for private prayer or to light a candle.
St Mary’s Walthamstow reopened in December 2022 after a major restoration by Matthew Lloyd Architects – a project supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. In addition to being a working church, our Grade II* building is now a beautiful heritage venue for concerts, wedding receptions, retreats, meetings, filming, and school and community events.
Fully equipped for sound and AV, and with a renowned acoustic, the main space can also be used for recording. Our smaller vestry rooms are ideal for meetings, away days and workshops. With views over the tranquil and beautiful churchyards, the church offers a peaceful retreat just minutes from Walthamstow Central.

Groups, Courses and Activities
Our youth group meets fortnightly
We partner with other local churches to help run the Forest Churches Emergency Night Shelter in the winter and early spring months.

Serving coffee and pastries as well as light lunches, Froth & Rind at St Mary’s offers the same welcoming and relaxed atmosphere as the original Froth & Rind on Orford Road in Walthamstow Village – only this time, in Walthamstow’s oldest building!
With both indoor and outdoor seating and brilliant coffee, Froth & Rind at St Mary’s is a cafe in a unique and relaxed setting – a great place for students, home workers, parents, book clubs, catch ups, business meetings or for those who just need a bit of downtime.
Like St Mary’s, Froth & Rind is also a certified London Living Wage employer.
Froth & Rind at St Mary’s is open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4pm, and on Saturdays from 9am to 4pm.
