St Edward's Primary School

St Edward’s Church of England Primary School was founded by St Edward’s Church in 1710. As a Voluntary Aided (VA) School it has Christian distinctiveness at its heart and its motto is Jesus’ promise that those who follow Him will know ‘Life in all its fullness’. (John 10:10)

It’s important to know that whilst many applicants come from Christian families, we welcome families of other Faiths or no Faith who appreciate the School’s distinctive and inclusive ethos, where we believe that the purpose of Education is to enable and nurture every child to thrive and become the person they are capable of being, experiencing a full life in mind, body, heart and spirit. People regularly comment on the 'family feel' the school has and how pupils are such polite and courteous young people.

The values that the School aspires to are:

Friendship

Thankfulness

Truthfulness

Trust

Forgiveness

Respect

Reverence, and

Responsibility.

St Edward’s Church has a very strong bond with St Edward’s Primary School and the daily Act of Worship is an important part of every school day, where Worship is seen as the heartbeat at the centre of school life. The children attend church services at least once every half term, and the major Christian festivals are celebrated with a service in church or school.
