On Saturday 28th June a group from both here and St Peter & St Pauls headed down to Rochester Cathedral to support our Curate, Revd Bart Woodhouse as he was priested, alongside 6 other Deacons, by Bishop Jonathan.During the service we were reminded that Priests are called by God to be servants and shepherds among God's people. They are to proclaim the Word of God, to be messengers, watchman and stewards, to teach, feed and provide, to search and guide. All of these things cannot be carried by a single person - the weight of the calling is too great to be done in their own strength. It is through the power and grace of God that they can fulfil all that God asks of them. Therefore we hold Revd Bart in our prayers - for strength and an infilling of the Holy Spirit. Then on Sunday we had a joint Service of Holy Communion where Revd Bart presided for the first time - what a joy and a privilege to a small part of his journey with God.
We are looking forward to running an Alpha course starting in September. It will be a conversation over breakfast at St Peter & St Pauls Church Centre from 9.30am - 11.15am. Beginning on the 13th September. All will be welcome to come and find out more about the Christian Faith, to explore through discussions and to ask those burning questions.
It was so lovely to turn our regular Community Café into a celebration of remembrance on the 80th Anniversary of VE Day.Along with our regular sausage and bacon rolls, homemade cakes and hot drinks we hung the bunting, played the music of the era, spent time in reflection as Revd Charlie and Revd Bart led us in a moment of silence and prayers. We were even joined by members of the community dressed the part!!
