Parents and Toddlers Group

Tuesday morning is parents and toddlers time in the church hall with plenty of fun and stimulating things for parents to enjoy with their children. The Farsley Parents' & Toddlers' Group is a place for parents and carers to spend time chatting and socialising together. The group meets every Tuesday morning during school term-time between 10am and 11:30am in the church hall.  Volunteers help in the kitchen as well as supervising craft activities, setting up and tidying up again afterwards. We are pleased to be supporting people living in our area who are in need of help to put food on the table through the work of the Pudsey Community Project food bank. Hundreds of parcels have been given to families thanks to the kind donations which have been made, including those from St John's in Farsley. You can drop off items for the food bank in our church hall every Thursday between 10am and 12noon. Items for the cupboard such as tinned food, pasta and rice are always particularly welcome. The project is also interested in baby clothing and other items for small for children. If you are able to donate it will make a real difference to those who receive it.

Sunflower Memory Cafe

The Sunflower Memory Cafe offers a welcome and company for people suffering memory loss, dementia or Alzheimer's, as well as their carers and supporters. The cafe is open on the third Saturday of each month between 10:00am and 12:00noon in the church hall. Join us to enjoy drinks, cakes and refreshments and some time together to enjoy each others' company. As well as the cafe service we also have gentle activities, entertainment, and a very enjoyable quiz.

All Age Worship

On the third Sunday of the month our worship our All Age Worship is always enjoyed by all in our congregation but it is particularly designed to appeal to our youngest worshippers and we encourage children to stay with us in church throughout the service.

The service is in everyday language and includes readings, prayers and a lively mix of songs and music which you will enjoy singing along to. The service sometimes also includes Holy Communion.

Online Worship

In 20 minutes there is a reading, a short sermon, a blessing and some music to enjoy. There's a new service available every Sunday evening from 6:30pm but you're free to watch it at any time that works for you! We hope the service is a real blessing to you.

The kettle's on from 10am, and we really don't mind if you're first through the door, but it's also OK if you want to pop in a bit later. We'll be here until 12noon so there's plenty of time to catch up on all the week's news.

Bereavement Support Group

Warm drinks and friendly chat. Have you lost a loved one recently? Maybe more time has passed but you might still like the sort of support you can only get from others who have shared similar experiences. Our Bereavement Peer Support Group is a safe and supportive space to talk for those who have lost people who are dear to them. It meets on the fourth Friday of the month at 11am in the Church Hall and is supported by resources from Gravetalk, Leeds Bereavement Forum and Dying Matters. Sometimes it can be difficult to have those conversations with loved ones and close family, but talking about them with other people who have shared similar experiences of bereavement can help enormously.

Every month we host a farmers' market in the church hall car park with stalls from local producers, artisans and organic smallholders from the area around Farsley. You'll find a wide range of tasty produce and handicrafts and we hope it helps support the many independent shops on our high street. The market takes place on the fourth Saturday of the month (except August) between 9:30am and 1pm. Volunteers from St John's run a cafe from the Church Hall kitchen as well as helping to set up and dismantle the stalls.

Holy Communion with Sunday School

A service of Holy Communion filled with lively music and a Sunday School where children can enjoy their own crafts and activities away from the main service.

Our service is in regular everyday language and we enjoy singing a range of different hymns and songs including traditional favourites and newer more modern crowd-pleasers!

We will hear and reflect on God's word from the bible, pray together for the needs of the world and our community and then share Communion at the altar where everyone is invited to share the bread and wine.

On the first Sunday of the month we have a Service of the Word at 10:30am. Our lively worship is filled with joyful music on the church organ and from our worship band as we listen to bible readings and pray together.

Children are welcome to stay in church but can also go to our Sunday School where there will be a range of crafts and activities especially for them and we will welcome them back at the end of our service to hear about what they have been learning.
