Whether it’s a party, a business meeting, a yoga class or a large concert we have several spaces at St John’s in Farsley which could be perfect for your event.

Farsley Church Hall

Farsley Church Hall is a large open space, suitable for a range of events including parties, social gatherings, conferences, fundraising events and large meetings.

The room is bright and airy with a high pitched ceiling and large windows with curtains down one side of the room. It has recently been redecorated and is approximately 15 metres long, 7 metres wide and 4 metres high.

We have around 20 large rectangular tables which can seat 8-10 people each. We also have some smaller tables which can seat 4-6 people. A range of chairs are available providing seating for up to 100 people. The room can be set out in both cafe mode with tables and chairs or conference mode with chairs in rows, or a combination of the two with open space.

The hall also has access to a kitchen with tea and coffee making facilities, an electric oven, gas hob, fridge and dishwasher. A range of cooking equipment, crockery and cutlery is also available but you are welcome to bring your own kitchenware. There are also toilet facilities and baby changing space next to the entrance porch.

The hall is accessed from the car park at the back of St John’s Church on New Street (Postcode LS28 5DJ). There is also pedestrian access through the graveyard entrance from Old Road. The main entrance to the church hall has several steps but there is a level-access accessible entrance through the side door.

Hiring costs

• £35 per hour for parties and one-off special events (Minimum two hour booking)
• £25 per hour for regular bookings
• £20 per hour for one-off events for charitable organisations
• £18 per hour for regular events for charitable organisations

We also ask for a £50 refundable deposit to cover any damage.

St John's Church

St John’s Church is a traditional church building dating back to the mid 1800s with large raised area at the front of the building which can act as a stage and seating for at least 200 people.

The building has excellent acoustics and would provide a unique and memorable setting for your event. It is ideal for concerts, recitals, performances, awards ceremonies as well as other large events which will have a sizeable audience. It has wooden pews which can seat around 200 people in the main nave of the church. Some extra foldable chairs are available to increase capacity if required.

LED lighting can be adjusted to suit different events and some coloured lights are available to illuminate the front of the church.

The church is fully accessible with level access from the church car park at the back of the church on New Street (Postcode LS28 5DJ), around to the main front door. There is a Changing Places toilet which can be accessed from both inside and outside the building.

The church also includes several other spaces:

• Small side chapel with seating on individual chairs for around 12 people.
• Choir area with seating for around 24 people.
• Gathering room, accessible from main nave of the church, suitable as a waiting area or dressing room.
• Kitchenette with tea and coffee making facilities and a range of cutlery and crockery.

We also have a mezzanine balcony seating area which we will be reopening later this year which can provide additional seating for concerts and large events, though this can only be accessed via a stone staircase.

Costs will vary depending on the duration of the event and the lighting and heating required. We would welcome your enquiry to discuss your plans further and provide a quote specific to your event.

The church is unavailable for bookings on Sunday mornings between 8am and 12noon but is often available at other times. 

Lounge Meeting Room

The Lounge Meeting Room is a cosy space with seating for up to 15 people. It is ideally suited for business meetings and small community events.

The room is approximately 4 metres long by 3.5 metres wide and has a large table with a range of comfortable chairs. You are also welcome to use the nearby kitchen which has tea and coffee making facilities.

The room is conveniently located in our church hall building which has an accessible entrance from our car park (Postcode LS28 5DJ).

The meeting room is well used by community groups but is often available to hire outside of those times.
