Royal Visit Puts St John's Ingrow On The Map

Church_news

We were delighted to welcome His Royal Highness, the Duke of Kent to St John's Church in May 2019.  Our Scouts and Girlguides greeted him with a guard of honour.  Having been introduced to the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Doreen Lee, he then had the opportunity to see special displays showing some of the history of St John's, the plans for our new facilities at the church, and also hear from members of the church and community about our hopes for the renewal of the St Michael's Centre on Bracken Bank.

The duke also spent a few moments at the war memorial and speaking with volunteers who have been restoring the grounds, including caring for our commonwealth war graves on the site.  The Duke took a great interest in the history and the hopes for St John's and wished us well with all that we were seeking to do to serve the local community.

The Duke then visited the K&WV Railway, of which he is a patron.

From 10.15am the people of Ingrow, Hainworth and Bracken Bank were all invited to come and see the displays and contribute their ideas, hopes and suggestions for new facilities, groups and provision for the two sites. Free refreshments helped the morning go well.
