Save St Nicholas School Elstree
The Heart of Elstree Must Not Close!
For over 140 years, St Nicholas School has been more than a school—it's the enduring soul and only state primary school in Elstree village. Now, Hertfordshire County Council is proposing to close it by August 2026. This is a community catastrophe we must stop.
Why St Nicholas MUST Be Saved:
Village Life Depends On It: Closing St Nicholas is destroying the foundation of Elstree village. It will force children onto busy roads for long commutes, fracture local friendships, and make the village unsustainable for young families.
A Unique, Nurturing Sanctuary: We are the only Church of England primary school in a six-mile radius, offering a vital faith-based choice with a warm, inclusive, and nurturing atmosphere.
Exceptional SEND Support: St Nicholas is a lifeline for families with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Our dedicated staff provide personalised, stable support that overcrowded, distant schools cannot replicate. Closing St Nicholas harms our most vulnerable children.
The Future is Local: With new housing developments underway, Elstree needs more local school places, not fewer. The closure is a short-sighted decision that will be regretted for generations.
The school has a viable Recovery Plan. We have a path to sustainability. We need your voice to show the Council that the community is united and fighting for our children's future.
