Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2026: One Body, One Spirit
Dates and Theme
The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (WPCU) is an annual ecumenical observance traditionally held from January 18th to January 25th.
Dates: Sunday, January 18th, 2026, to Sunday, January 25th, 2026.
Theme for 2026: "There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling." (Ephesians 4:4)
Origin of Resources: The prayers and reflections for this year have been prepared by the faithful of the Armenian Apostolic Church, along with their brothers and sisters of the Armenian Catholic and Evangelical Churches. This offers a chance to reflect on Armenia's ancient and resilient Christian heritage.
About the Week of Prayer
The WPCU is an opportunity for Christians across different traditions worldwide to pray together for the visible unity of the Church, reflecting Jesus' own prayer "that they may all be one" (John 17:21).
It is a vital time to:
Reflect on the progress made on the ecumenical journey.
Pray for a deeper communion among all followers of Christ.
Act on the "Go and Do" points (often provided by Christian Aid) to link our reflections with concrete actions for justice and peace.
Daily Reflections
The international resources provide a specific focus for each of the eight days, guiding our prayers. We encourage you to use these themes in your personal devotions:
Day 1: Our Calling
Day 2: Bearing with one another in love
Day 3: The bond of peace
Day 4: Called to one hope
Day 5: One faith, one baptism
Day 6: One Lord and Father
Day 7: God's gift given in baptism
Day 8: Growing into Christ
"We, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another." (Romans 12:5)
