ABOUT | Mission

Hope Outreach

Hope Outreach UK is a welfare relief charity aiming to bring hope and encouragement to the poor and needy of Sri Lanka and Southern India. Run entirely by volunteers in the UK, we work with locals on the ground to ensure that the right projects are supported to provide an independent and more secure future for all those we help.

Menara School

The Menara ('Lighthouse') Centre, located in Menouf in the Nile Delta, offers a safe and cheerful environment for 50 special needs children to learn and gain life skills. While providing both teaching and physical therapy for the students, the school also works to inform the parents of how to care for their children and realise their full potential. In Egypt, a lack of understanding of developmental disabilities means that children with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Down Syndrome and other special needs are often kept at home and their education is ignored. For families in rural areas of Egypt who have a child with a mental disability, there are few resources available to support them with bringing up their child. Special needs also carries negative stigma, and parents can often feel isolated and unsure of what their child needs.

MK Food Bank

The Food Bank provides local families and individuals in the Milton Keynes area with essential food supplies at a time when they need them most, covering the days and weeks before they are back on their feet or other social care infrastructures can come into play.

Willen Hospice

Willen Hospice is a registered charity that provides specialist care for people whose illness no longer responds to curative treatment (also known as specialist palliative care). They work in Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas and are based at a quiet lakeside area close to the City Centre. Patients receive care within the Hospice building itself but also within the community via their specialist Community Nursing Teams. They provide care for people from the age of 18 years upwards and this focuses on four key areas: specialist symptom control, emotional support, spiritual support and care for carers.
