Ascension Day Holy Communion service - 7.30pm on Thursday 14 May 2026

Occurring
Thursday 14 May 2026 Thursday at for 1 hour
Venue
St Mary's Chessington
Address
Church Lane Chessington, KT9 2EJ, United Kingdom

We’re delighted to be hosting a special Ascension Day Holy Communion service for the churches of Chessington and Hook, and everyone is warmly welcome to join us.

Ascension Day marks the moment, forty days after Easter, when Christians remember Jesus returning to heaven. It may not be as widely known as Christmas or Easter—partly because it always falls on a Thursday—but it’s a significant and hope-filled part of the Christian story.

Sometimes described as “Christmas in reverse,” Ascension reminds us that Jesus’ story didn’t simply end, but continues in a new way. His return to heaven prepares the way for the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost—and for Christians, it’s a promise that God is still present and at work in our lives today.

Whether you’re part of a church, exploring faith, or simply curious, you would be very welcome to come along.

Welcome to St Mary's Church

Join the Adventure – Discover Jesus, Grow Together, Share His Love

We are a church on an adventure with Jesus. Everyone is welcome here. Whether you have followed Jesus for many years, are just starting to ask questions, or simply want to explore faith, you are warmly invited to join us at any of our services or events.

Our church is a place where people can discover who Jesus is, build friendships, and learn how faith can make a difference in everyday life. You can come along as you are — there is no need to know anything about church beforehand.

We believe God welcomes everyone, and we do too.

Together we are learning to:

  • Discover Jesus and understand His message through the Bible, prayer, and time spent together

  • Grow together as a supportive community, encouraging one another in faith and life

  • Share His love and Good News through word, action, and service to the community

Wherever you are on your journey, you are very welcome here. We would love to meet you.
