Many people in our parish have expressed their sadness at Bishop Andrew Watson's revelation that he has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Here is a prayer inspired by the Bishop of Guildford's current plight, in support of Andrew, his wife Beverley and their family.

Loving God, we come to you in deep sadness and shock on hearing the news of Bishop Andrew's diagnosis. Surround him, Beverley and their family with your continuing compassion. As they navigate uncharted waters be a constant presence, fill them with peace and give them glimpses of glory.

May all those treating him do so with wisdom and sound judgement. We thank you that he faces the unknown future with faith in a living God who will never let him go.

May we strive to do the same. In the name of your Son who healed us, through the Spirit who brings wholeness.
