Our Pilgrimage to Southwark Cathedral

We had a wonderful afternoon/evening on our pilgrimage to the Cathedral to see the 'Threads'  the actual handiwork of Jacqui Parkinson that we had been studying in our study groups on Wednesdays alongside biblical passages and the most beautiful poems by Christ Church's own poet - Denise Woodhouse.

We set off walking after pilgrim prayers as far as St. John the Divine where they very kindly treated us to lovely cake and cups of tea to see us on our way. We then continued on the second part of our pilgrimage to the Cathedral and stopped off in Borough for a cup of coffee.  The exhibition was truly wonderful, such beautiful pieces which gave much pause for thought.

We were met by the lovely Sub - Dean, Fr. Mark, who prayed for us all, and then in the evening we were treated to the most emotional service of Compline and Benediction. We all enjoyed it so much that we asked Fr. Simon to put on this service for us in the future and he has kindly agreed to hold one at 6.00pm, every 1st Sunday of the month. The first one will be on 1st November – All Saints.
