Open House as part of this year's Streatham Festival

for 2 hours
Streatham, Christ Church
Christchurch Road Streatham London, SW2 3ET, United Kingdom

An opportunity for people who do not usually come to church to visit the building and meet our artist in residence – Xavier White. Xavier White is Artist in Residence at Christ Church Streatham and recently unveiled his first artwork of the residency, Maryam. Come and discover his art in the beautiful surroundings of Christ Church Streatham.
Xavier White (b. 1993) is a London-based artist and curator. His work is rooted in activism and provides a contemporary socio-political commentary on topics such as late-stage capitalism, identity, and toxic masculinity. Harnessing the power of semiotics, childhood toys, and bold colours, he makes complex political issues appear accessible, juxtaposing nostalgia and fun with the problematic past and present.
His work has been displayed across the United Kingdom, including the Royal Academy of Arts, and is held in private collection.
Xavier recently won the People’s Vote Award at the Brixton Tate Library this summer for his artwork Hungry, Hungry, Hypocrites! There will be tea and coffee available.
