Sunday March 29th will be our Palm Sunday service at the usual time of 10am in Holmbury church. This will be a service with Holy Communion.
The 5th Sunday is usually a benefice service at one of the 4 churches in the benefice. But this month, March, each of the churches will hold their own service as it is Palm Sunday & the start of Holy week.
There will be a benefice service the Sunday after Easter Sunday.

On the morning of Tuesday of Holy week there will be a service in Holmbury church at 10.30am. This will give time to reflect on the events of Holy week in preparation for Easter Sunday. The service will be words and music introduced by the Rector. Join us afterwards in the Church cafe for a lovely cup of coffee or tea.

This service, the Institution of the Lord's Supper, will be a Benefice service at Christ church, Coldharbour. The service is based around the Last Supper when Jesus is with his disciples.

A short service of the word with a chance to reflect on the events of Good Friday.
This is followed by a walk from Holmbury church to Abinger Church carrying part of the cross. Or you can drive to Abinger, aim to get there around 12noon.
At 12noon there will be refreshments for all at the Abinger church, a benefice event, followed by a short service, at St James' Church, starting at 1pm.

After the Good Friday service at St Mary's Holmbury, you can join the walk from Holmbury church, over the hills, to St James' church, Abinger. Each of the benefice churches will carry part of the cross on this walk. This is a short walk of about 1.5 miles over footpaths that will be up and down some hills lasting 30-45 minutes. Please feel free to drive to St James' is you are unable to walk there.
Afterwards there will be a light lunch at St James' church starting at 12noon.
At 1pm there will be a short service with all the churches from the benefice at St James's.

There is also a short service at 11am in Holmbury church, BEFORE the walk that leaves Holmbury at 11.30am for Abinger church.

A light lunch will be served at Abinger church at 12noon on Good Friday for those attending the service at 1pm and the walkers from the Benefice churches [see the Good Friday service at Holmbury and walk from Holmbury for more details].

Celebrate the Resurrection at the top of Holmbury Hill, at 6.29am, as the sun rises above Leith Hill, with a reading, a hymn and a prayer. W3W for the cairn on top of Holmbury hill - ///joined.manage.pipe.
You can join the group walking from Holmbury village hall at about 6am or make your own way to the top to arrive before 6.29am.

In theory this is for those who walked up to the sunrise service, but we know that not everyone can manage that walk, myself included. So everyone is welcome, whether you have done the walk or not. Our Easter Sunday service will start at 10am as usual. There will be a service of Holy Communion in church and a chance for the children to join the Easter Funday in the church room, also at 10am. After the service there will be refreshments in the church and an Easter egg hunt in the church graveyard.

Join us at about 11am after the Easter morning church service, and after the Funday in the church room, in the churchyard for an Easter Egg Hunt around our lovely Graveyard.
You will be hunting for plastic Easter eggs as the deer eat them if we put out chocolate ones. But you will go home with proper chocolate eggs!
