Facilities and features

Accessibility

There are toilets and washroom facilities at the back of St. Clement’s Church for your use when at church.

There is paid public parking in the streets around St. Clement’s. Parking can be paid for at central meter machines or via an app called EasyPark, available on your app store.

Assistance dogs are more than welcome at our services!

Whilst we do not have a wheelchair ramp, our church door does allow for access with a wheelchair, having a very low door sill.

Our Building

A church, if not the Church, has stood at Klimentská 5 since as early as the end of the 10th century, with a foundation document issued by the Břevnov Monastery in the year 993 referring to a building there. Why St. Clement? Perhaps because St. Clement is the patron of all those who navigate the waters which may be the reason why this particular church, so close to the River Vltava, is named after him. The interior of the church, in accordance with the customs of Protestant churches, is very austere. Painted white, this allows the vault to stand out. The furniture of the church also does not attract special attention, the only significant element being the very decorative neo-Gothic pulpit. In the northern wall of the presbytery is the entrance to the sacristy and the church tower, and here the doors are richly carved, inscribed with the year 1609. From the sacristy, a spiral staircase leads to the church tower, where the bell is located. At the western end of the nave a narrow wooden staircase leads to the chancel where the organ is located.

Our pews are heated in winter.

We have recently appointed our first environmental officer, charged with ensuring that our worship and other services are as climate friendly as possible.

Music and Worship

We organise live music events on a regular basis, including our own concerts, and also function as a location for concerts put on by visiting choirs from across the world, including the UK and the USA. Please look at our Calendar of Events on our website for further details about upcoming events.

We are lucky and honoured to have as our main organist Professor Michal Novenko, an internationally acclaimed organist who has played across the world to great acclaim. Not only does he accompany our worship on Sundays, but gives regular concerts too. Please look at our Calendar of Events on our website for further details.

There is a twice monthly Evening Prayer from the Book of Common Prayer 1662, at 5pm on the first and third Wednesday of every month. Please look at our Calendar of Events on our website for further details.

Choir and Music are hugely important at St. Clement’s. Christ said that he came to give life, and where there is life there is joy. Singing, as a joyous activity, is absolutely part of man’s everyday life and music communicates to every single one of us in different ways. As Christians, we minister with songs to attend to the needs and wants of those who come to worship God, and in worship there are songs for the declaration of Faith, for Comfort, for Hope, for Forgiveness, for Joy, for the Coming of Christ, for Christ’s death, for Christ’s resurrection, for the redemption of the world by His Love and also for the life everlasting. Songs of worship can bring God’s visitation, direct message and even healing to people. In doing all of the above music plays a vital role in proclaiming Christ’s message to us all, and the Choir and Music in general are key in that.

Groups, Courses and Activities

Are you in your late teens, 20s or early 30s? Or do you simply identify yourself as a young adult? Are you looking for a way to deepen your connection with your Christian faith in a welcoming community setting? Are you based in Prague and speak English? This place is for you.

We are a diverse group of people who are intent on pursuing the life God designed for us, gathering on a regular basis in the heart of Prague to connect and share anything that comes up in our life journeys!

Why do we gather?

“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them” Matthew 18:20

”For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ“ 1 Corinthians 12:12

Each of us is given a specific and unique way to appreciate God. As we come together, we are able to see Him and all his works in a much broader picture. With mutual love and support, we rejoice in the Lord, receive encouragement and grow firmer in our faith.

What do we do?

Share - Through the fellowship of shared moments, meals, thoughts, and faith, we bond with one another, fostering a deep sense of belonging and the warmth of home among young Christians from diverse backgrounds.

Learn together - Explore and embrace the diverse styles and forms of our individual relationships with God. Engage in lively and open conversations about our faith, sharing our unique experiences of His presence in our lives. This helps us expand our understanding of God and strengthen our connections with one another.

Grow together - Be a witness to and an active participant in the growth of our young adult group. Take another step closer to God, both personally and as a community.

Currently we are meeting monthly.

We organise Bible Study and Alpha courses throughout the year (apart from the summer months of July and August), normally held at 6pm on Tuesdays, where we come together to share food and study specific areas of the Bible. Please look at our website for further details including the timing and theme of the next Bible Study course.
