We are delighted to welcome Bishop Michael Langrish, former Bishop of Exeter and an Honourary Bishop in our Diocese in Europe, to come and lead our Confirmation Service. This year it will be at Gibraltar Cathedral on Wednesday 14th October, in the evening (precise time TBA)

The central part of the serivce is the moment that the Bishop lays his hands on the head of each candidate and asks God’s Holy Spirit to give them the strength and commitment to live their Christian life.

So Confirmation is the moment when we become full members of the church, by confirming as adults the promises that were made for us at our baptism, when in many cases when we were very small children. Once confirmed you are able to receive Holy Communion, so this step is similar to First Communion in the Roman Catholic Church.
