SInce September, the Chaplaincy has been developing a Mission Action Plan (MAP), a vision for the type of church that we want to be in 5 years’ time and the steps we need to get there. This is not just some ‘nice to have’ document that sits in the shelf. Rather, having a credible forward plan helps us to better explain our mission as a Church, focus our activities, take informed decisions, and use our resources more effectively.
Members of the congregation participated in a Consultation/Assessment Process (Sept/Oct) using an online questionnaire run by consultancy, ‘Holy Cow’, and in January this year we reviewed the results of the survey and discussions among our working groups and our clergy, and began the process of discerning together the future direction for our church.
As a result, a draft Mission Action Plan was produced in February/March, a summary of which was published at the Annual General Meeting on May 31st, You can download a copy of the summary here. A copy of the full Mission Action Plan can be obtained from Fr Hilary here.
This iis important because the MAP lays the foundations for the decisions we will be taking at the Chaplaincy Council over the coming months and years. Please read the summary to ulnderstand the direction in which we believe this church is being led.
Let us Pray
God of Mission, who alone brings growth to your Church, send your Holy Spirit to give vision to our planning, wisdom to our actions, and power to our witness.
We pray that this, our Mission Action Plan, will lead to a transformation of our life as a Church and a community. May it make new the things that have grown old and bring wholeness to all that cries out for restoration.
Grant us that we may have the courage to see it through, that all may witness the results of your work, here in our hands. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.
AMEN!
