This year's Open Gardens was carefully timed to be held on Sunday 14 June when the roses would be in full bloom! Eight delightful gardens were opened and free parking was available on the village green. Tea and lots of delicious homemade cakes and sandwiches were on sale plus plants and garden tools. Robert Kennett (RHS Gold Medal Winner) was available at one of the gardens to answer any garden-related questions. It was a wonderful afternoon with visitors from Alderbury, Whiteparish, Pitton, Farley, Winterslow, Salisbury and Wilton. We are very grateful to all the garden owners - we appreciate how much work it takes to get private gardens ready for public display. Everyone we met had a lovely day.Thank you Steve and Michelle Ferarri for organising everything (including the baking marathon) and to everyone who supported us and help raise nearly £900 for the Save Our Church campaign.Open Gardens will now be held bi-annually, taking it in turns with West Dean.
As a thank you to our supporters in the journey to save our church from closure, everyone is invited to join us for a relaxed evening of drinks and friendly conversation in the beautful surroundings of Holy Trinity.Rev Marcia and the Save Our Church Committee will provide a short update on fundraising, how the money is being spent, ideas for new services and be available to answer any questions.
Another wonderful village event on Sunday 16th May, despite the weather. Thank you so much to all the people who contributed plants, made cakes, helped, visited and donated to the Plant Sale which raised over £1,300 for the church. Thank you so much to Margaret, Bill, James and Tim for hosting this event and for the huge amount of work that it entailed.
Many thanks to Diana Cotter for devising another beautifully illustrated Treasure Hunt through Bentley Wood in aid of the Save Our Church appeal. The hunt begins at the church this year where treasure hunt maps can be collected. We are asking for a minimum donation of £3 per map. Card payments can be made at the new contactless payment machine inside the church. The hunt will run until Sunday 12 April.
