We have invited our new Archdeacon, the Ven Louise Ellis, to come and preach at Holy Trinity Dilton Marsh at the 9.30am service on Sunday 10 August. This will be her first visit to the White Horse Team. We hope this will be a good opportunity for her to get to know members of our church community, as we shall soon be advertising the Team Vicar role. I hope we can give her a warm welcome and introduce her to the church and help her to get a feel for the parish and our Team Ministry during her visit. You can find out more about Louise here: https://youtu.be/wLqGaUyLI1c?feature=shared
Lammas comes from the Old English word for “loaf mass” and celebrates the first fruits of the Harvest. Traditionally, a loaf of bread is made from the first grain of the Harvest and brought to church to be blessed, symbolising gratitude to God for the harvest and for the sustenance it provides. There will be a special service at the Tin Church on Sunday 3 August at 6.00 pm. Everyone is welcome. We shall be bringing a loaf of bread to this service and there will be some refreshments afterwards. This is part of a series of services celebrating Rural Festivals in our most rural setting. We hope you will come and join us.
Following the resignation of our PCC Secretary at our APCM last month, we are looking for a new person to take on this role. The Parochial Church Council meets six times a year, usually in the evening. We oversee the life, mission and ministry of our parish, our church buildings of All Saints, Holy Saviour and the parish hall, and our churchyards. We oversee and keep our Mission Action plan up to date, as well as safeguarding, finance, and pastoral care. We are meant to have a PCC secretary who takes the minutes of our meetings, sends out the agenda and notices of the meetings, and helps to keep us organised! The PCC Secretary also helps to organise the Annual Parochial Church meeting and to put together the annual reports. Full training and support would be given. We are looking and praying for someone who has IT skills in Word and Outlook (for emails). The PCC Secretary would have an official church email address with whtministry.org.uk and access to Office365 for this role. Skills in administration, and being efficient and well organised would be great skills to have.If you would like an informal chat about this role, please don’t hesitate to contact me. If you know anyone who might be able to fulfil this role, please share this piece with them. The person does not need to be a regular church member. We can co-opt someone on to the PCC during the year and they do not have to have a vote if they would prefer not to.Please consider if you can help with this or point someone in our direction. With many thanksRebecca
A big THANK YOU to all those who responded to our Gift Day last month. It was very encouraging. In terms of one-off donations, we received approximately £2600 in gifts. A number of people have also increased their regular giving, which is very encouraging. I will be writing to people soon to thank you for your one-off gift. However, there were a few anonymous gifts, so if this is you please accept our very grateful thanks for your support.Just a gentle reminder that if you have not got round to responding yet, please do so as soon as you can. It’s not too late! We can accept your gift at any time.Thank you for your support.Rebecca
