A parish communion service for Palm Sunday will be held at St Peter's at 10.00am on Sunday, 29 March 2026.

All are welcome.

At this service the rite of foot washing will be observed. The ceremony commemorates the Last Supper and the commandment of Christ that his disciples should emulate his loving humility in the washing of the feet (John 13:14–17).

This worship service comes from a Christian worship tradition begun in the Middle Ages. In the reading of the Passion story we participate symbolically in Christ’s descent into death.

The Easter Vigil is a liturgy held in traditional Christian churches as the first official celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus. It is held in the hours of darkness between sunset on Holy Saturday and sunrise on Easter Day – most commonly in the evening of Holy Saturday or midnight – and is the first celebration of Easter, days traditionally being considered to begin at sunset.
