The Dunton Monks

A small Augustinian (a.k.a. Austin) Community of three 'Brothers' in religious holy orders were resident at Dunton Church 1976-81 when, as a former parish church, it had first became officially redundant - but still consecrated. They lived in the nave, retreating to a churchyard caravan in the winter, and conducted their round of daily Offices (short liturgical Services) in the chancel. Parts of the churchyard served as their gardens for vegetables, herbs and flowers. See attachment for a history written by the last surviving Brother.
