We had our second Carol Service last night- a service of readings and carols. It was wonderful to hear the old familiar stories and to sing God's praises as we get closer to Christmas Day!Two more services at Stoke this Christmas--* The Crib Service , Christmas Eve, 4pm* Family Communion , Christmas Day, 10amAll welcome to join us😇
It really was a terrible day, with rain coming down sideways! But we had a wonderful range of all ages, plus waggie-tailed walkers!We ending in church for mulled wine and carol singing.This event was jointly arranged by the village school PTA and church, and was a truly wonderful community occasion! Well done all! We are so blessed to live in such a community- spirited village
We were delighted to welcome members of the Sunday Stokers Group to help with our service. They did the readings and a special poem and sang heartily and created a 'junk' nativity scene; we enjoyed singing from our Quartet choir, and congregation sang all our favourite carols. Followed by sherry and mulled wine!Sunday Stokers is our children's group (for children aged 4 to 11), who meet every third Sunday, 10.30am at The Memorial Hall. They join us in church after their activities to tell us more about what they have been doing. They have lots of fun as they learn about God. New members always welcome!
Lots of lovely stalls, Christmas refreshments, and even a visit from Father Christmas and a pirate!A lovely community event, and we are grateful for all the support from the community- those who held a stall, those who helped with the refreshments, and the organisers. It really was a lovely community event!
