We enjoyed a family friendly, Stokers Sunday service this morning. Stokers started at the usual time of 10.30am but this time in Church. We created some stunning stained glass windows inspired by the beautiful windows in Church. We also made gift boxes and filled them with yummy treats... however there was a catch! We had to be very patient and not open them until the end of the service! In the talk, we heard about the Ascension of Jesus. He ascended to Heaven so he could be there for all of us. It was then the turn of the whole congregation to do an activity. We all drew our portrait, or wrote our name, in a mini picture frame and created a display to remind us that Jesus is for Everyone.Jesus told the disciples that he would send them special gifts, but they needed to be patient. Our Stokers were also very patient and at the end of the service were rewarded with their yummy gifts.
The atmosphere was buzzing at our latest Coffee and Chat morning, with the Church filled with lively conversation and friendly faces. It truly is a highlight of the week for many in our community. We were delighted that Keith, our Vicar, was able to join us this morning, as well as PCSO Will, who dropped in to catch up with residents and offer support. Will is a regular visitor and will next be at Coffee and Chat on 29th May, 10-12noon.All are welcome to join Coffee and Chat on a Friday in the Church. A huge thank you goes out to our team of volunteers who keep the group sustained with tea, coffee, delicious treats and a warm welcome.
Alongside our monthly Family service, Stokers met as usual in the hall. They started to look at the story of Moses, with a film and popcorn! The children also created models based on the story, using lego and playdoh. The Annual Parochial Church Meeting was held after the service and was well attended. Reports are available to read in the Church. The morning culminated in a delicious bring and share lunch.Thank you to everyone who set up the lunch, set the tables, arranged flowers and provided food.
This morning, our Church was filled with the joy of Easter celebrations. Our communion service included a renewal of Baptismal vows as is traditional at Easter, reaffirming our faith in God and our commitment to Jesus. The Church is resplendent with flowers and many thanks to the volunteers who created the arrangements, also, thank you to the lovely team who cleaned and made the brass sparkle in the Spring sunshine. Our church is open every day, do pop in and see the lovely arrangements, including the Lilies of Remembrance, donated by villagers in remembrance of those loved ones who have died. We wish you all a very Happy Easter!
