It can be hard to meditate or pray on your own, so come and join a friendly group for a time of meditation/silent prayer once a month at Buxton's Community Room (left of Buxton's Close), Vicarage Road, Wookey, BA5 1JW.

Please arrive from 2pm so that we can all be seated by 2:15pm, as there is a security lock on the door. Each session starts and ends with a short reading, but the time in the middle is silent for you. There's a chance to enjoy a cuppa and a chat afterwards too. Welcome to our page on A Church Near You!

St Matthew's Church is a beautiful church in the village of Wookey, near Wells. We are part of a group of 3 churches and 4 parishes, known as a benefice, which are looked after by Revd Jan Shellard-James.

There are services almost every Sunday, except during some months on the third Sunday of the month. Also if there is a 5th Sunday in a month, a service might take place at a different church in the benefice. There is also a weekly Holy Communion service which is held every Wednesday.
