To truly celebrate Christmas, it helps to see Christ as more than just the baby in the manger or the saviour on the cross. While the Apostles’ creed jumps from “Born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate”, this advent course looks at the life of Jesus hidden in that comma and will help us ponder what Jesus’ life means for us. Welcome to our page on A Church Near You!

St Matthew's Church is a beautiful church in the village of Wookey, near Wells. We are part of a group of 3 churches and 4 parishes, known as a benefice, which are looked after by Revd Jan Shellard-James.

There are services almost every Sunday, except during some months on the third Sunday of the month. Also if there is a 5th Sunday in a month, a service might take place at a different church in the benefice. There is also a weekly Holy Communion service which is held every Wednesday.
