Christ Church
Sunday 29th March is Palm Sunday, the day that we remember the Triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, riding on a donkey, the sign of peace. Palm Sunday marks the start of Holy Week, the most disturbing week in the year. It starts on a high as Jesus is welcomed, descends to the depths on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, when Jesus is crucified, and then finally returns to the light when Jesus Rises from the Tomb on Easter Sunday. Do please come and pray with us on this most important week in the Christian Calendar.
We celebrate Palm Sundy with a Benefice service of Holy Communion at Christ Church, during which Palm Crosses will be blessed and distributed, to remind us throughout the year of Jesus' sacrifice.
Our service will be followed by light refreshments, as we catch up on news across the benefice, so please come and join us.
Our Readings are:
Psalm 118 verses 1-2 and 19-end Give thanks to the Lord for He is good
and Matthew chapter 21, verses 1-11 The triumphal entry
God our Saviour, whose Son Jesus Christ entered Jerusalem as Messiah to suffer and to die; let these palms be for us signs of his victory and grant that we who bear them in his name may ever hail him as our King, and follow him in the way that leads to eternal life; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, now and for ever.
Amen.
