Christ Church
Sunday 10th May is the sixth Sunday after Easter and the last Sunday in the Easter Season before Ascension day on 14th May. Our two readings remind us that being a Christian requires trust in Jesus, and obedience to his commands. On this the second Sunday in the month, our worship is enhanced by the live music brought to us by Steve Bloggs. Come and join us at 10.30am for morning worship. Our service is followed by light refreshments as we catch up on the week's news, and share our stories.
Our Readings are:
ACTS Chapter 17 Verses 22-31 Paul speaks to the people of Athens
and
John Chapter 14, verses 15-21 Jesus promises to send the Holy Spirit to comfort those who truely believe. "Whoever is the one who has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me"
Risen Christ, who has overcome the world, fill us with your peace this Eastertide. As we look toward your ascension and the coming of the Spirit, strengthen us to keep your commandments of love. When we face trials or loneliness, comfort us with your abiding presence, and fill our hearts with joy. May your Spirit guide us from apathy to action, making us true vessels of compassion in the world. We ask this in your holy name.Amen.
